Flow like The River

Fishing is what gives my life meaning. Something about the ability to spend the rest of my life improving myself and expanding my horizons in many aspects of fishing nearly promises happiness for the rest of my life. The second someone believes they know it all is the second they proved to be foolish. Michigan alone has 10,000 lakes and 10,000 barriers for me to overcome. To learn every single one in Michigan would take many life times to achieve. A fisherman could spend their whole life learning one body of water and will never know everything there is to be known. The area for growth is endless.
My love for rivers has to do with the fact that if you stand in one spot for any given time, the water in front of you is continuously rejuvenated. With new water comes new change. Sediment is deposited, and sediment is carried away. The river is always changing. Life is always changing. A river is metaphorically a symbol of life. Life will change but it will always flow back to its normal stage. Issues come and go in and out of our lives but with time it will be ok. A statement I've been saying a lot is "If you want to live a happy life, you must flow like the river, and it will be alright."

In modern day society we blind ourselves to the true meaning of living. We focus on the issue more so than the solution. If we spent as much time looking for a solution as we do drowning ourselves in our pity, we would realize how much we could accomplish. When it comes down to it, happiness is all that matters. If we placed a barrier in a river, the water would hit it and either go through or simply flow over an around it. We can spend our life looking at an issue as a place to stop or look at it as a hurdle to pass over and continue to flow like the river.

Fisherman or not, Man or women. We all have the ability to overcome our barriers. No matter what stage of hurt you may be in, it will always get better. Life Is full of barriers and some are taller than others but we all can overcome these barriers. Learn to flow like the river and no barrier will ever be too large.

  1. I liked how you made simple points that go along way in your blog post. I really like your saying because it is true if only we could flow as smoothly as a calm river. Even though there are a few rough rivers.

  2. Your blog has amazing imagery and it made me think about our rivers completely differently. I really liked how you used the flowing water to represent our lives and the barriers as the issues or problems that come up in life.
